Back to the podcasting... It seems the more I podcast, the more I need to podcast. Ugh.

The Spider’s Nest & An Update (INPUT NEEDED)

So I lost quite a bit of sleep being up all night dealing with scripts, and resources, and everything else under the sun, or moon seeing as it was last night. LOL

Submissions to the current stage have slowed down to a crawl now that Google panic has begun to set in on folks, so I am focusing on the other half of what we do here, and that is adding more resources to our traffic building community. We must always remember that one of our goals here is to get traffic to peoples websites, and also assist them in any way we can. So now comes the time to start dragging myself into the dirt. (As if I don't do that already with my other commitments! LOL)

We are now accepting reciprocal linkbacks. You can get yours in BY CLICKING HERE

Like the stages of the Linkback Project, we will only allow for 100 total reciprocal links.

Here is how it works...

You place our text link with a small, 3 word description on your website, and in exchange, we give you a text link, a description (Don't get overly happy with it.), a thumbnail shot of your website, and show your PR.

The script will check for the reciprocal link before adding yours, so copy and paste the code it gives before submitting yours, then submit away, and it will appear. Take note that if you remove the link on your end, the script will notify me, and you will be removed automatically. Now that is only if your site is up and running, and the url you gave does not have it there anymore. If your site is down when it checks, it will simply send us an email to let us know it could not find it, so don't worry about being deleted over a hosting problem.

Once 100 reciprocal links have been reached, it will accept no more. Unless... Someone has been deleted because our link was removed, and then the spot or spots will open back up. So if ti is full, you can check every now and then to see if someone got tossed.

Spiders crawl us daily, so this is a good chance to get a linkback set in stone for the long term.

If you haven't noticed, things have been changing around here, and more resources will be added over the next few weeks. Always keep an eye on the sidebars to see things move and change. Any new resource will always be twitted, posted, and a link will pop up somewhere new around here.

I have been toying with the idea of a banner exchange, but if we did do it, it would be ran rather tight fisted, and sites would have to come under strict scrutiny to be a part of the exchange. So many banner exchanges get full of junk sites that are more ad's than content, or see no regular updates. So if we go that route, it will be slow going at first maybe, as we will have to stick to a set of standards to keep the quality up where we like everything here to be. Let me know if that sounds like something we should venture into?

I was going to make it 125x125 if we do choose to do it. But the problem I have been facing so far is the script itself, the good ones cost, (I tried quite a few free ones last night and today, and they are not going to be of use, they are easy to cheat on, and offer non of the options we would need.) and we must do this with zero capital, ergo if we need to purchase something, we will have to generate money to do it. I am poor personally, so I don't have the money to spend out of pocket anyways. (Except for the hosting, I do pay that. LOL) And paid ads are not an option, so that drags us down to donations, which means there will be no income, because no one really donates anything to anybody online.

I am looking into putting a donations thing-a-ma-jiggy here, on the one in a zillion chance someone might send two bits, but I can't use our Non-Profit Corporation's PayPal account for the most obvious of reasons. :-) And without PayPal, that basically leaves us in the dust. (Hence the reason I say donations are basically moot.) I refuse to be a part of MMO scams, and what we do here is always free of charge, so there is nothing to sell.

Ya know, having to live with the conditions of the testable model is quite hard indeed, but in the end it will be of great benefit to those like us that have no money to start, and have to figure out how to survive. But it is quite fun racking my brain daily to keep us afloat and moving forward. :-)

I have opened us a Facebook account, and soon I will be posting the link, so that we can utilize Facebook as part of our social networking. I just need to clean it up a bit, and get it ready first.

Here is a link tho for those that don't want to wait on me to muddle through getting it built. :-)

Guy Robert Vestal's Facebook profile

I am going to get on that today tho, so we will soon have it in our list along with SU, Digg, reddit, etc...

I toyed with the idea of doing bookmarking here, so that we as a community could drop links of places we like, that way we can spread traffic around to other folks who aren't even expecting it from us, but I hate to have folks register to do stuff, because I myself don't like to, ergo that idea is pretty iffy for me. I do think it would be good to pitch in and spread the traffic around to the community as a whole, as a show of good faith that we are interested in the community as a whole, and not just ourselves alone. When we get selfish, is when we reduce ourselves to the level of the spammers and scammers that we are trying to rise above.

The bookmarking idea would generate backlinks to the websites we post here, and if we are posting ones we like, then they should be worthy of not only our attention in going to check them out ourselves, but in sending traffic to them as deserving. But I don't want to make it just another del.ico.us or ma.gnolia knock off. So you can see that rock, and that hard place again. :-)

No Digg knockoff's, no search engine or link index knockoff's, there are already a zillion of them floating around as it is. And I have been out of touch with our forums for 4 days because of creating resources here at the root, but we do have a moderator over there. (Though he might think I died or something) and we could use other moderators. Relegating authority has to be the key here, because I am only one human, and will never be able to do and watch everything, as well as implement. So feel free to start volunteering around here, so we can move closer to being a community, and less of a monarchy. LOL

Chat scripts are out, that is a waste of good bandwidth, and hosts hate when their resources start getting tapped by chatters on a domain within their rack. Someone needs to remind me to fix the podcast feed, and get it set up at feedburner. I keep forgetting now that we are doing podcasts. Hopefully they will all not turn out to be an hour or more, folks have better things to do, but I did need to get that off my chest. But in the future, I promise, no more 32 mb downloads of me yapping and spinning around in circles.

I can't approach the medium sized and smaller search engines and link indexes for partnership yet because in my opinion, we have nothing to offer them in the way of sending traffic to them, s that one will have to wait, and hope maybe some will stumble into us and make the offer first. But I am faithfully, but slowly working on that webmaster resources page that will go up at the top along with the contact page. Tis' so hard to be unique in that area when everyone and their mother has played it out.

People hate reading long posts as well, so I am done. :-)

PS... For those that did not notice, I added "Keyword Luv" as well to our comments, so with that and comment luv, we are indeed trying to do our best to play to the arachnid...

September Circle Surf

We are all looking for more than just the monkey traffic that lands and leaves aren't we?

Well here is a chance to spread around some surfing that is just not a hiya/goodbya...

Simply visit one or more of the weblogs here, then list yours for other folks to stop in at. Don't just blow in and blow out, take the time to click around internally at the website(s) you visit. Give the person you are visiting some good stats on their analytics, wander around a few posts, don't hit the back button, maybe even a comment there to let them know you were there. Remember, many times a comment is just another backlink!

You can blow in and out, then leave a link here just to be a greedy fool, but those leaving links, and visiting them will be sure to comment on your cheesy attempt, which will let others know to stay away.

Our job is to generate linkbacks, traffic, better search engine results, and an overall feeling of community that has been lost to the scammers of the internet. So take advantage of yet another resource here. :-)

THIS RESOURCE IS FOR WEBLOGS ONLY. ALL OTHERS WILL BE DELETED!

Your URL for what its worth…

Filed Under (General, Reviews, SEO) by Dr. Algorithm on 02-09-2008

First a rant, and then a review of a website - Tech Jaws - , and then the discussion of your URL, and what it is worth!

It is an hour and twelve minutes long. I go into quite a bit of detail, so if you are not up for an hour long podcast then that is your loss, and my gain. You lose because you miss out on what could have been the the freeway, not the road to success, and I gain because you don't burn my bandwidth by downloading my 32 MB podcast just for the heck of it. So it is up to you who loses and who wins I guess huh? Of course once you listen to it, you will see why your loss is my win!

What is more important... 72 minutes of your time, or traffic you never knew you could have had?

And for those that listened, and say that I am talking about URL spamming, then you didn't listen to the whole podcast, you just moved the slider bar through it, and you missed the whole point.

Remember, I said... Find a way to make your way...

Not go on a spamming spree without a real mindset. Once you get that mindset, you won't do something as stupid as to appear as a spammer.

Just one month of slow building on StumbleUpon

Filed Under (SEO, Traffic) by Dr. Algorithm on 28-08-2008

I have been slowing working on building my SU presence for about a month, and it has net me 14k+ in hits. This is where we need to be for now. Lets hope after my crawling and clawing my way through the index that this will continue to rise... And to think... Entrecard has been my traffic focus as of late, only to find that SU blows them away. Click on the image, and look at the top of the list!
